Job Description
The University of Strathclyde seeks to appoint an experienced and dynamic Performance Sport professional for its new £31 million sports facilities, opening in summer 2018.
The post holder will be responsible for creating, establishing and growing our performance sport programme for University clubs and Elite Athletes and strategic partners. The purpose of this position will primarily be to enhance the student athlete experience and support individuals to reach their potential in their sport and academically.
The successful candidate will be a passionate and motivated practitioner who has the vision and commitment to utilise all resources within the department and the wider institution to develop innovative class leading high performance services. You will be degree qualified in a Sport Science discipline and have a significant and sustained track record of developing and delivering services to performance athletes across a variety of mediums.
As this is a new role, you must be a self-starter, who is proactive, dynamic and able to react to the pace of change anticipated as more strategic partnerships are established.
You will be responsible for leading the establishment, development and implementation of the performance sport programme focussing on achieving club success whilst supporting the production of sporting talent aspiring to compete on the world stage. This will include, but is not limited to: creating and delivering strength & conditioning and sports science services available to athletes; implementing a recruitment strategy to attract talented athletes to Strathclyde; establish relationships with the Sport Union and other key strategic partners, including Governing Bodies of Sport.
Initially based in the current Centre for Sport and Recreation (CSR), you will relocate in the summer of 2018 to new purpose built facilities within the University Campus. You will inspire a bold, new direction in the function, designing and implementing high performance services that will positively impact on the student experience, with the right quality and in a timely fashion.
